I’ll never forget the sinking feeling I got when the Dobbs decision was leaked. My boyfriend at the time was an avid SCOTUS watcher, and he argued with me about whether the decision would stand. He thought there was NO WAY the Court would overturn Roe v. Wade.

I knew better. This was exactly what so many of us warned about in 2016. “Vote for the email lady,” we said. “If only for the judges and Justices,” we said.

And let’s not forget this notorious interview Trump did with Chris Matthews back then where he said “there’s got to be some punishment for the woman.”

Of course. Because the “pro-life” movement has always been about punishing women.

I was never one of those people who took Roe v. Wade for granted. I’ve been an activist since I was 18 and fought against Ronnie “Raygun’s” pro-corporate, trickle-down b.s., homophobic “let people with AIDS rot” policies. I’ve marched and protested for reproductive rights since I was 18, because I knew how precarious our hard-won rights truly were.
