Pity the poor Republicans in Congress. Caught between a rock (the wrath of Trump) and a hard place (the idiocy, ignorance and tribalism of the Republican base).

Lindsey Graham is the perfect example of this dilemma. Right after the January 6th riots, Graham declared in his melodramatic way, “I’m done! We had a good run but that’s it!” Or something to that effect. Which was a normal response to having your party’s President send a bloodthirsty mob to attack your workplace.
